What is The Hearst Panel?

The Hearst Panel was created to establish a two way conversation between consumers of Hearst Magazines and websites and those that create them. This panel is run by MindMover, an independent market research company. If you’d like to know what we use the results for please see this page.

What does it cost me to be a member of The Hearst Panel?

There are no financial costs involved with being a member of the panel – membership is completely free. All we would like you to do is take part in our surveys and give your honest opinions.

How does joining the panel benefit me?

Hearst Magazines really want to hear what you have to say and we offer the chance to win some great prizes in return for completing our surveys. Each survey has its own prize draw attached to it. The prizes that we offer will depend on the subject of each survey, so make sure to check your email invites to see what you can win. Aside from the prizes, however, you will ultimately benefit from Hearst Magazines being able to adapt and change in tune with your tastes and needs, based on the feedback you give us. As a member of The Hearst Panel, you will have the unique opportunity to help shape and influence your favourite magazine publications and make them more enjoyable for you as a reader.

From time to time, we may also offer you the chance to take part in testing new products. We will send you the product(s) and you will be free to keep them after you have finished the test.

How much of my time will be required?

From time to time, we will send you email invitations to participate in our online surveys. Please feel free to take part in as many of these as you want. Your views and opinions are valuable to us and we hope that you will want to take part in all our surveys; however if you don't have the time or would rather not participate in a specific survey, you will still continue to receive further invitations in the future.

There’s been a problem with one of my surveys – what do I do?

While we strive to do all we can to ensure that everything runs smoothly, in the rare instance that there has been a technical problem with one of your surveys please report the issue to us.

Product testing issues – what to do if you’ve not received your product or book

We often ask our panellists to try out new products or read new books and tell us what they think of them. Once you’ve agreed to take part in a trial we will send you an email to let you know when you can expect to receive your product or book through the post. If you do not receive your product or book in the post please get in touch with us by emailing We will look into your enquiry. Sometimes products are lost in the post and if we have more available we will send you a replacement.

Product testing issues – what to do if you have received the product but no instructions

We always endeavour to give you as much information as we can on how to take part in product trials and provide you with product instructions. If these are missing when you receive your product please email us at and we will send them to you via email.

Product testing issues – what do I do if my products are damaged when they arrive?

We always take care when sending out products to our panel members, however sometimes issues outside of our control may cause the product to become damaged en route. If you receive a damaged product please contact us at

Product testing issues – what to do if you have tested the product or read the book and not received a survey to give your feedback

After every trial period or book reading period we will send you a short follow up survey so you can tell us what you thought about the product or book. Sometimes we can experience email deliverability issues beyond our control – where our emails are trapped in spam folders or simply lost in the World Wide Web somewhere! However, you can always log into this site and visit the my surveys area where you will be able to see all the surveys we have open for you to participate in and complete the survey via this route. I’ve not been invited to take part in any surveys or product tests

We value our panel members taking part in all our surveys so we try not to contact you more than once a week. We only send you surveys that are relevant to you personally, so if we are conducting surveys on what it’s like to be a parent, we won’t send it to you if you don’t have children as it won’t be relevant to you.

When it comes to product tests, we try to match the product to the type of person who would be interested in using it. So if you are male we won’t send you surveys inviting you to take part in cosmetic product testing as few of you would be interested! Likewise, we try to be as fair as possible in allowing all our panel members to take part in product tests, so if you’ve recently taken part in one we won’t ask you to take part in the next one. We know you love taking part in these studies so don’t worry; it won’t be long until your next product testing invite appears in your inbox!
